Bf’s mum bought this Groupon deal for RM98 instead of usual price RM198 (for 4 pax) with half peking duck.

Crab meat soup

Salted Egg fish slices

Prawn

Vegetables is simple and nice

Half a peking duck being served

Duck meat from the peking duck used for noodle dish

Ala carte order of roast pork is less than fabulous

Dessert included in the groupon deal

Overall, this RM98 deal is not half bad the restaurant is quite empty but the food are better than expected, it is good to have peking duck wrap in pancake skin and crunchy cucumber once in a while

Japanese Ala-Carte Buffet: Mizu TTDI vs Munakata Life Center Jalan Sultan Ismail

It is always nice to have ala-carte buffet where food is served to you instead of taking the food yourself.

Mizu TTDI and Munakata Jalan Sultan Ismail are among my top 2 for Japanese ala-carte buffet, Maiu Damansara Perdana (used to be called Umai-ya) also have ala-carte buffet which i don’t really like…

Komura of Corus Hotel do have a pretty awesome Japanese ala carte buffet spread as well for RM60++ lunch, RM98++ dinner. Click here for visit to Komura on February 2010.

Mizu ala carte buffet only available on Saturday and Sunday lunch from noon to 3pm for RM50++ for Saturday(about RM60 all inclusive) or RM55++ for Sunday.

Whereas Munakata’s only available for dinner Monday to Saturday(closed on Sundays) for RM70++ They currently have buy 2 free 1 promotion until end of February 2012 which average out to RM55 each person all inclusive if 3 person going.

Let’s start off with Mizu’s spread. Above is their order sheet.

Looks really nice, above is sashimi beautifully spread out on ice, the quality is quite good except not too fond of the tuna sashimi after bf’s sister say they put coloring on tuna to make it looks nicer. The above portions is for 4 of us

Tamago, scallop lips and small octopus, all quite good

Tempura prawns with fresh prawns

Yummy teppanyaki beef cubes, salmon is ok, don’t really like their scallop which has rubbery texture and lacking natural sweetness from seafood

Delicious mizu maki with eel, tempura prawn and tasty mayo dressing

Grilled shishamo, mackarel and salmon

We wanted the grilled salmon as in the whole head. At first the waitress say it is not included in the buffet, but we ordered it anyway assuming it will be charged ala-carte, and end up they don’t charge us for it. Really tasty fatty meat

Seafood fried rice and garlic fried rice, prefer the fragrant garlicky one

Seafood Kimchi Soup, appetising sourish and slightly spicy

I think we were eating too much and they were waiting for us to leave when they served us the above 2 huge chicken portion although we ordered only 1 portion of it, and usually their portion is only few small pieces.

an order of all dessert before deciding what to have more of. The pudding and jelly are not nice, their matcha green tea and black sesame ice cream are awesome

Their chawanmushi still have the best texture among all i have tried, very smooth, but somehow the taste is slightly lacking this time.

Salmon sashimi is the only raw fish choice here, the fish is not as fresh looking as previous visit.

I find the cod taste so so

soft tofu with chinese style starchy sauce which i not fond of, taste like chinese plum sauce

Seafood tofu is just ok

Beef with straw mushroom is just ok

Behind is really meaty and tasty soft shell crab tempura, to the front is tempura moriawase

plain looking, but this buttery spinach is addictively yummy

too oily eggplant with mincemeat

breaded seafood is just ok

Like the green tea ice cream, but more fond of Mizu’s

Overall, i very much prefer Mizu in a way although it is worth going to Munakata for a try especially when they have buy 2 free 1 deal going on now.

Salmon Bento from Japanese stall, below three items(mackarel bento, chicken ramen and salmon rice set) also from the same stall. Their food are mediocre and okay. Above set cost around RM13

There is 10% discount for those working in Gardens North Tower or South Tower, just flash your Garden entrance swipe card to get this discount.

One of the cheaper option in this food court/stall in third floor of the gardens mall. They have few ramen options, price below RM10 inclusive tax. Above is some chicken ramen, taste ok, won’t order it again, the ramen has wantan mee texture.

This taste nice, around RM11, i thought the salmon is grilled but saw them deep frying it -_-”

Pineapple Rice from Lanna Thai, RM7.50, seems like a popular dish as shown in above pic

I ordered a pineapple rice set, should have gotten it ala carte instead, the tomyam soup is terrible, the mango salad and watermelon are forgettable. The rice on the other hand is quite nice with hints of turmeric.

Two of my colleagues who tasted the above said the above braised yee mee has a really weird taste, terrible, salty and sweet at the same time.

Rice Cake soup from Sam Sam Korean, my favourite stall in this entire food court, they will tend to sprinkle ground peanut on top which i opt out, around RM11

Chicken bibimbap, around RM12, one of my favourite dish in this food court, plenty of vegetable and a very filling dish

Around September 2011, they was promo running whereby 50% off for ramen on Mondays and Tuesday; and 50% off rice dishes on Wednesday and Thursdays, and thus we get to enjoy these expensive ramen averaging RM20 before tax at half price

Ultimate Tonkatsu Ramen, RM20.90

Gokuraku Ramen, RM19.90

Gokuraku Miso Ramen, RM20.90, of the three recommended ramen, i kinda prefer this one cos i like the miso taste

Garlic minced meat hot stone bowl rice, quite nice although the portion is small

another rice dish at half price

Overall their ramen are expensive, tasty and very filling albeit taste a bit salty to some.
