Missing Hoi Kee which serves heng hwa/ hing hwa food in brickfields(have stop operating since the rows of restaurant in Jalan Tun Sambanthan was demolished for new development around end of 2010), we thought woo lan will serve the same satisfying friend mee sua but go back disappointed.

Brickfields_Woo_Lan2

Business hour: 12pm-3pm(lunch); 6pm-10pm(dinner) closed on every monday except public holidays

Brickfields_Woo_Lan3

Curry seafood, RM30, expensive but delicious with lots of big fresh bouncy prawns

Brickfields_Woo_Lan4

Heng Hwa fried mee sua which is sticky and doesn’t taste good, it is so far behind Hoi Kee’s which have since stop operating when Jalan Tun Sambanthan zinc roof restaurant were demolished end 2010.

Overall, the seafood curry is worth a try, other blogger do raves about the seaweed tofu soup which taste like shark fin soup.

Moghul Mahal

Moghul mahal restaurant Sdn Bhd menu

interior

clean interior.

mango lassi and teh tarik

Mango lassi, RM4 and teh tarik(milk tea), RM2. The mango lassi tasted a bit of artificial mango concentrate.

pani poori

paani poori, RM5, filled with mashed potato, to be eaten by pouring a lil of the greenish condiments into the opening on top, quite an experience eating this, deep fried crispy puff filled with cold minty condiments

complementary papadam

complimentary fried pakoras with minty yoghurt sauce as we wait quite long for the naan, not used to them serving food on towel, FYI, the towel looks quite dirty, dusted with flour etc, probably due to them reusing the towels.

egg naan

Egg naan, RM4, quite nice, both the bread and the dipping sauce are piping hot.

egg naan again

inside egg naan, with mashed egg, some herb, wish it was filled with more egg though, not just speckles of egg

By the look of this shop, it could be around for some times. Tis restaurant is just across from police station in brickfields, beside the main road. Brickfields is a area where indians and banana leaves restaurant are abundant, but it is actually very near Mid Valley Shopping mall, about 10-15 minutes drives away.
Written on the outside, they serving:
Steamed Fish
Crispy chicken with plum sauce
Hing Hwa Oyster Omelette
Claypot pork
Hing Hwa Oyster Mee Sua
Fok Zhou noodle
heng hwa specialties written in english
ooo, they are famous too :p
They are open for lunch too: 11:30am – 2:45pm or is it 11:00am – 3:00pm(previous pic)
Menu with price list
Pictorial of what they offer
Famous Oyster Noodle, yummm, served with crispy seaweed. very nice.
Steamed fish with oyster sauce, it is kinda odd they have glob of ginger paste on one corner of the fish, which is shown on bottom right of the pic above, maybe not all ppl like ginger.
oyster ommelette, nice too although penang Bee Hooi oyster ommelette is still the best
Bittergourd with salted egg, first time eating this, good
Home made beancurd, very good although they prob using oil that have not been changed cos they is black burned spots on it. :P
Silky smooth stir-fly chicken
5 dishes at a glance
Last to come, to fu soup, this is goooood, better than Restaurant 88. Nonetheless, there is divided view on whether restaurant 88 is better or this is better, i find restaurant 88’s is tasteless, but the pro-88 say they have more ingredients, umm i didn’t really like 88’s ingredients so… and i think this is much cheaper too.
Anyway, i don’t know how much individual dishes cost, but we pay RM130 for total 6 dishes for 8 person. Pretty cheap meal i would say. The food here taste deliciously home cooked without artificial flavourings. ;)
Address: (they are 2 addresses on the receipt, one is preprinted, the other is from a ink chop :\)

Some ranting: work been hectic, have to go to Johor again on the 16th, yep you are right, on a Sunday(just cos have to reach customer site on monday morning, my colleague driving so it is not so bad), and i am going to miss a wedding, miss the fun and dressing up ;\ this is the times when escape seems very tempting, anyone want to make me a offer than i can’t resist? something along the line of
- food reviewer/ tester/ critics
- recipe inventor/tester
- something to do with food, haha, it goes without saying, this would make me quite happy
- 9 to 5 job (something about F&B industry is the shifts and weekend works which umm no thx)
- good pay :)
- no traffic jam, somewhere bangsar, mont kiara, kepong, jalan ipoh would be nice
and many others…
thanks. haha…
