Famous Hulu Yam Lo Mee, it is sourish with the addition of black vinegar
Ginger sauce Fish
Prawn (Udang Mantis)
Eggplant with minced pork, steamed egg with century egg in the background.
Claypot Wild boar
We have dinner at a un-named restaurant in Old Hulu Yam, RM180 for 18 of us. Food shown here is only half the orders, as we have 2 of everything shown here. Really good value and satisfying. Think this restaurant opened only this past June, the paint is new, and the interior is bare without any decoration.  The Ulu Yam noodle is specialty of this area.

Nice cold weather, about 21C towards evening. Steamboat set-up in Silverpark Apartment, Fraser’s Hill.
All the yummy ingredients.
Again, with apartment as background
some balls and sausages.
It is quite a enjoyable evening with steamy hot food and chilly weather. The soup is prepared once we reach the apartment at 4:00pm with slighty sauted ikan bilis, and chicken bones which been blanched once with hot water.
Highlight of the food for me is the BBQ thinly sliced beef, sweet prawn, and BBQ juicy corn…
The apartment has 2 rooms and is priced at RM150 per night, good deal.
18 of us shared 2 apartments, all together 4 rooms. Cost for each person(excluding petrol) is RM70, so worth it. For this small fee, you get stimulating chilly weather for 2 days 1 night :D , d’lish steamboat dinner, piping hot breakfast, snacks(mister potato, maggi, tuna snack pack…) drinks(Excel, winter melon, justea…) , dlish lunch in Kuala Kubu Bahru, satisfying dinner in Hulu Yam Lama, everything “bao”. All thanks to humorous planner, treasurer who don’t keep cost sheet ;)  great cook, helpful washer, strong carrier, happy consumers etc. We took the old road from Selayang -> Rawang -> Fraser, so no toll $ needed.

Maggi Mee is without a doubt most known brand of instant noodle in Malaysia, and curry being the ubiquitous flavor for fellow Malaysians. Before the start of 2 hours trekking to Chiling waterfalls, let some cooking on the roadside begins… haha
boil some water… it is simple. ;D

Teo Kee in Kuala Kubu Bahru, it is smashed between 2 other establishements (one of them picture here Yew Kee) which have barely any customer. Teo Kee turns out to be a famous restaurant as there have newspaper cuttings on the wall which show their specialty etc, and customers are filled to the brim.

Another shot
It is how they serve you herbal tea (bak4 chi1 chou2). 7 of us are served 2 bottle of this.
bittergourd with chicken
egg with big onion
Price List:
Tou Fu Fish – RM9
Vegetables – RM6
Ginger chicken – RM7
Fried Egg – RM5
Soup – RM5
Preserved Vegetables with pork – RM7
Fried Noodle – RM4
Rice – RM0.80
Herbal tea – RM3.50(big)
Simplified receipt :\, RM128.00 Overall, i find them serving tasty home-cooked food. The food shown here are half of the total ordered, as we have 2 tables of people dining. Average out RM9 per person. Don’t find it good value, as we didn’t order any meat dishes, and those ordered are scantily filled with fishes/pork, the fame of this restaurant, could have caused the rising price.
