Overall, this RM98 deal is not half bad 🙂 the restaurant is quite empty but the food are better than expected, it is good to have peking duck wrap in pancake skin and crunchy cucumber once in a while

Choc-Chip-Cookie1

Dorie Greenspan’s Chocolate Chip Recipe, taken from Kait’s Plate.

Choc-Chip-Cookie2

cheapest unsalted butter i could find from Carrefour, RM6 for 200g bar. The recipe calls for 230g, so i also reduce the amount of flour etc

Choc-Chip-Cookie3

slight bumpy ride in making this choc chip cookie, the butter clump all into the whisk paddle, used scrapper to scrap them all out. Above is caster sugar, brown sugar and unsalted butter

Choc-Chip-Cookie4

Vanilla essence and 2 eggs added.

Choc-Chip-Cookie5

Flour(added in 3 batches) and choc chip added

Choc-Chip-Cookie6

Tablespoonful few inches apart

Choc-Chip-Cookie7

Freezed for a while till it is stiff outside. I tried baking a batch without freezing it, but was put into fridge a while, it spread much and cookies touches at the edge.

Choc-Chip-Cookie8

Baking

Choc-Chip-Cookie9

It helps to have 2 oven.

Choc-Chip-Cookie10

Finished product, the hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate is goey even when the cookie is cooled.

Quite nice, a high calorie, high fat treat.

Biscotti-1

Chocolate Hazelnut biscotti recipe taken from Smitten Kitchen, biscotti is a twice baked cookie. Above is toasted hazelnut with skin removed, dry ingredients(flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, nescafe powder and salt), 4 eggs and sugar.

Biscotti-2

My tiffany blue coloured recipe book stand.

Biscotti-3

After mixing eggs, sugar and dry ingredients, press the hazelnut into the very sticky dough. Be prepared to work with well floured hands and work surface

Biscotti-4

Bake the biscotti till firm and ready to be cut

Biscotti-5Lazy me cut it very thick so that i can bake it at one go, it tasted more of texture between bread and cookie.

Mixed reviews, some say very nice, but i find it terrible I find it terrible as it is thick and not crunchy. Biscotti should be thin and crunchy. The taste is not bad though.

Mizu-TTDI1

It is always nice to have ala-carte buffet where food is served to you instead of taking the food yourself.

Mizu TTDI and Munakata Jalan Sultan Ismail are among my top 2 for Japanese ala-carte buffet, Maiu Damansara Perdana (used to be called Umai-ya) also have ala-carte buffet which i don’t really like…

Mizu ala carte buffet only available on Saturday and Sunday lunch from noon to 3pm for RM50++ for Saturday(about RM60 all inclusive) or RM55++ for Sunday.

Whereas Munakata’s only available for dinner Monday to Saturday(closed on Sundays) for RM70++ They currently have buy 2 free 1 promotion until end of February 2012 which average out to RM55 each person all inclusive if 3 person going.

Let’s start off with Mizu’s spread. Above is their order sheet.

Mizu-TTDI2

Looks really nice, above is sashimi beautifully spread out on ice, the quality is quite good except not too fond of the tuna sashimi after bf’s sister say they put coloring on tuna to make it looks nicer. The above portions is for 4 of us 😉

Mizu-TTDI3

Tamago, scallop lips and small octopus, all quite good

Mizu-TTDI4

Tempura prawns with fresh prawns

Mizu-TTDI5

Yummy teppanyaki beef cubes, salmon is ok, don’t really like their scallop which has rubbery texture and lacking natural sweetness from seafood

Mizu-TTDI6

Yummy sashimi salad

Mizu-TTDI7

Delicious mizu maki with eel, tempura prawn and tasty mayo dressing

Mizu-TTDI8

Soba

Mizu-TTDI9

Grilled shishamo, mackarel and salmon

Mizu-TTDI10

Delicious eel handroll

Mizu-TTDI11

We wanted the grilled salmon as in the whole head. At first the waitress say it is not included in the buffet, but we ordered it anyway assuming it will be charged ala-carte, and end up they don’t charge us for it. Really tasty fatty meat

Mizu-TTDI12

Tempura prawn again

Mizu-TTDI13

Seafood fried rice and garlic fried rice, prefer the fragrant garlicky one

Mizu-TTDI14

Seafood Kimchi Soup, appetising sourish and slightly spicy

Mizu-TTDI15

I think we were eating too much and they were waiting for us to leave when they served us the above 2 huge chicken portion although we ordered only 1 portion of it, and usually their portion is only few small pieces.

Mizu-TTDI16

an order of all dessert before deciding what to have more of. The pudding and jelly are not nice, their matcha green tea and black sesame ice cream are awesome

Mizu-TTDI17

Last round in Mizu 🙂

Let’s move on to Munakata japanese ala carte buffet in Life Center, Jalan Sultan Ismail

Munakata1

Order menu for unlimited ala carte buffet dinner in Munakata

Munakata2

Their chawanmushi still have the best texture among all i have tried, very smooth, but somehow the taste is slightly lacking this time.

Munakata3

Sourish seaweed wakame salad

Munakata4

warm yummy unagi omelette

Munakata5

salmon sushi

Munakata6

Salmon sashimi is the only raw fish choice here, the fish is not as fresh looking as previous visit.

Munakata7

plain looking but yummy seafood salad

Munakata8

warm tasty unagi pieces

Munakata9

delicious scallop

Munakata10

very yummy straw mushroom with buttery aroma.

Munakata11

I find the cod taste so so

Munakata12

shishamo

Munakata13

soft tofu with chinese style starchy sauce which i not fond of, taste like chinese plum sauce

Munakata14

Seafood tofu is just ok

Munakata15

Beef with straw mushroom is just ok

Munakata16

Behind is really meaty and tasty soft shell crab tempura, to the front is tempura moriawase

Munakata17

plain looking, but this buttery spinach is addictively yummy

Munakata18

too oily eggplant with mincemeat

Munakata19

breaded seafood is just ok

Munakata20

Like the green tea ice cream, but more fond of Mizu’s 😉

Overall, i very much prefer Mizu in a way although it is worth going to Munakata for a try especially when they have buy 2 free 1 deal going on now.

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt1-Salmon

Salmon Bento from Japanese stall, below three items(mackarel bento, chicken ramen and salmon rice set) also from the same stall. Their food are mediocre and okay. Above set cost around RM13

There is 10% discount for those working in Gardens North Tower or South Tower, just flash your Garden entrance swipe card to get this discount.

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt3-Saba

Mackarel set for around RM13 as well

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt2-Korean

One of the cheaper option in this food court/stall in third floor of the gardens mall. They have few ramen options, price below RM10 inclusive tax. Above is some chicken ramen, taste ok, won’t order it again, the ramen has wantan mee texture.

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt9

This taste nice, around RM11, i thought the salmon is grilled but saw them deep frying it -_-”

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt4

Pineapple Rice from Lanna Thai, RM7.50, seems like a popular dish as shown in above pic

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt5

I ordered a pineapple rice set, should have gotten it ala carte instead, the tomyam soup is terrible, the mango salad and watermelon are forgettable. The rice on the other hand is quite nice with hints of turmeric.

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt6

Two of my colleagues who tasted the above said the above braised yee mee has a really weird taste, terrible, salty and sweet at the same time.

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt7

Rice Cake soup from Sam Sam Korean, my favourite stall in this entire food court, they will tend to sprinkle ground peanut on top which i opt out, around RM11

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt8

Chicken bibimbap, around RM12, one of my favourite dish in this food court, plenty of vegetable and a very filling dish

Mid-Valley-Gardens-FoodCourt10Sad looking spagetti and pathetic looking mushroom soup
