Thanks to invitation from Farra of Glenreagh Sdn Bhd, i got the chance to dine in Al-Amar trying out their yummy looking fare. Their flagship restaurant is in Pavillion shopping mall, i went to their Sunway Putra Mall branch this time. They also have a more casual setup called Al Amar Express situated on the side walk of Jalan Bukit Bintang, in front of Fahrenheit shopping mall.

On top are the cold mezze/appetizer served: Hommos, Warak Enab, Fattouch salad and made in-house bread. Among all, i like the Hommos, Fattouch and bread the most, the Warak Enab take some getting used to, it is sourish vine leaves stuffed with rice and spices marinated in lemon olive oil sauce.

Al-Amar2

Falafel RM20.25, made from chickpea, fava bean, and some other vege all minced together and fried till dark brown served with tahina sauce, healthy with all legumes and no-meat, perfect as a meat-free option.

Al-Amar3

Fattoush salad RM22.95, made with tomato, cucumber, lettuce, mint leave and topped with fried pita chips and sumac powder, love this refreshing sourish salad, the crunchy pita pair well with fresh vege

Al-Amar4

fresh bread made in their oven specially shipped from Lebanon, lovely light texture

Al-Amar5

Hummos RM17.55, really nice and smooth, it goes well with their homemade bread

I had not have or heard of this unique dish called Siyyediyeh before RM44.90, . After listening Al-Amar executive chef Maroun explaining the painstaking process of making this dish, we are much persuaded and this dish finished fast by us. Chef Maroun explained that garouper fish used is first roasted, and the fish bone turned fish stock is used to cook the rice. This dish looks plain, but is really aromatic and flavorful. Good as a white-meat option.

Al-Amar8

Mix grill RM62.95, really nice mixed grill. The beef tenderloin cubes, chicken cube and kofta are really flavourful and moist, best paired with made in-house garlic sauce

Al-Amar9

Friendly chef Maroun who explain all the dishes, ingredients and process of making each dish

Al-Amar10

Nice fruit platter, RM21.15

Al-Amar11

Baklava RM12.15, this miniature cube slice is just nice to end the whole meal.

Al-Amar12

Unique light fixture
