WholeMealBread1

Using recipe from Malaysian Institute of Baking (MIB), i had a go at making wholemeal bread using bread machine as i only have a small hand mixer only suitable for cake mixing and definitely not for bread making, putting all wet ingredient into the bread machine, and topping with all dry ingredient

WholeMealBread2

weighing butter

WholeMealBread3

take the dough out from machine, and shape it into a pullman loaf pan

WholeMealBread4

baked

WholeMealBread5

looked wet and not brown enough

cross section, overall i find using bread machine may not have developed the gluten network enough, it is still okay though, can make again.

RaubCurry

Been missing the spicy appetizing sauce of their chicken curry since having it in their Damansara Uptown branch.

The curry gravy is still as good and spicy. Yum, it would be perfect if it was kampung chicken instead of soft normal chicken though.

Just ok with their fried chicken and other stuff taste just ok as well.

Mille-Feuilles from Encore Patisserie, nothing spectacular, i find it just so so although it is signature dessert in this bakery cafe

Overall, i like the homely dishes in Lao Jiu Lou 老酒楼, don’t mind coming here again and again.

Sumika_1

I have heard of Sumika since i think 5 years ago where my ex-colleague raved about their awesome japanese grill. Today is finally the day to try out how good there are. The place which can seat only around 50 pax is packed full on a Saturday evening. Do note calling in at least a day before for reservation is a must here, business hour is Tuesday – Sunday 6:30pm till midnight.

Sumika_2

This japanese guy is the only person doing all the grilling, and all the items are grilled perfectly, except maybe the squid which we find is slightly overdone.

Sumika_3

appetizer, chicken and beef menu

Sumika_4

Pork, seafood, vegetable, rice and dessert menu

Sumika_5

alcohol & soft drink menu

Sumika_6

free appetiser: beef tongue in ponzu sauce

Sumika_7

edamame, RM8

Sumika_8

Oyakodon, chicken egg with rice, RM20, a really nice, big and filling dish, yum!, the egg is done perfectly with runny yolk

Sumika_9

sweet potato with butter, RM10, i really like this, the sweet potato is yummily drenched in butter “sauce”, don’t mind having this again and again

Sumika_10

gingko, RM3, beef tongue RM8 and boneless beef rib RM12

Sumika_11

crunchy chicken soft bone RM5 and addictive chicken skin RM4 at bottom

Sumika_12

quail egg, RM4

Sumika_13

eringi mushroom on the left taste better than shiitake, each RM5

Sumika_14

squid is slightly overdone, RM6

Sumika_15

yummy looking grilled eggplant, with its skin removed, prettily top with bonito flakes, really like the ginger condiment on the side which pack a punch, RM12, don’t like the distinct charcoal taste on the eggplant but everything else are delicious, the eggplant is cooked perfectly to the right softness which still able to be pick up using chopstick

Sumika_16

Pork slice with mentai, RM10, big mentai within thin pork slice, yum!

Sumika_17

yam in pork slice with seaweed, RM10 interestingly crunchy yam texture, totally unlike our local taro

Sumika_18

pudding, the caramel is slightly burnt which mask the sweetness of sugar, we still polish it off clean though.

Overall, i think this is as authentic japanese yakitori as i can get in kuala lumpur with all grilled items made perfectly by its only japanese chef. Do go and try when craving for meat hits.

I have also submit a review of this place to FindIt.com.my

Address: Sumi-Ka Japanese Yakitori

No.19, 1st floor, Jalan SS15/4, Subang Jaya, 47500 Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

went pick up the tayar shop worker to house to take my tire rim to be replaced with one of their spare tire so that i could drive to tire shop to change all 4 tyres

new tyre

C.K.L Auto Centre is just next to Proton service centre

business hour

After 6++ years (3 out of 4 of my tyre actually purchased on May 2007, which makes 3 of my car tyre almost 8 years old), I really need to change them and have been procrastinating and 2 of them finally puncture without me even realizing, only notice they are punctured when parked in house, have to call a few tyre shop and decided to purchase them (Continental CC5 165-55-14) at RM660 for 4 pcs from C.K.L. Auto Centre, ie RM165 per pc. They provide good service and no charge for house-visit as i found out my spare tyre is actually leaking air even after filling it with air in petrol station and not able to drive to the their shop. Normally house visit will incur RM20 service charge

Before trying out this tyre shop, i also called to Perkhidmatan Tayar Bateri Hong Leong, batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, but they don’t carry Continental and charge RM150 for Silverstone, whereas the usual shop i normally visit – Chuan Ann Tayar near Segambut charge only RM125 per pc for Silverstone. But due to the fact Chuan Ann no longer sell Continental tyre which mine was purchased from, i went to C.K.L instead for this time.

In conclusion, 2 shops of tire shop near Jalan Ipoh/Segambut which i recommend are C.K.L. and Chuan Ann, below their contacts
