Langkawi trip 5 days 4 nights (November 2022)
May Star car rental
Toyoto Vios price is RM280-RM300, I think this price is meant for foreigner, we got pricing of RM80/day, we paid total RM350 for 4 full days + 5 hours. They charge on 24hr basis, so u can tell them you are not rental for 5 full days
important to bring your own phone mount, lesson learnt from previous trip that I had to hold the phone for hubs
first stop to Fat Frog, quite near to airport
nice view
love the berry yogurt smoothie, very yum
quiche is nice but portion is quite tiny, the salad is very nice sourish with crunch from sunflower and pumpkin seed
my risotto is very nice, homey and delicious
our first 2 nights in Westin hotel
no much of a view from our hotel which is among the lower price, ~800 per night, but we got buy 1 free 1 with Marriot club
pistureque view from Breeze lounge
Pizza Hills, near to Kuah Town(open 4pm-10pm), very hard to find with no signage, we made 2 wrong turns in the narrow hill road with steep “cliff”. I think we might try park at foot of hill and walk up as driving up there is quite scary, one wrong move and your car could fall to side “cliff” of the road
very tiny restaurant, must call ahead to make reservation. No menu and what pizza you get is depended on what they churn out, thankfully both pizza flour suits me and I got my favourite mushroom
very nice pizza with savoury ricotta + etc cheese with natural honey
mushroom pizza
breakfast in westin
Ice cream
fish porridge is very yummy
my first plate
beach in Westin hotel, nice view, but the water is not so clear, Cenang side and north side(Sandy Skull beach) are much clearer
we found a really secluded pool in Westin, just next to their spa, at the far end of the beach. Westin & St Regis is actually connected, you can walk from Westin beach to St Regis side of beach
we soaked in this pool for good hour with just 2 of us
Westin recreation centre, nothing much there, their sauna is separate by gender, so we didnt go in
RAMS Home Decor(in Kuah, open 9:30am-9pm) is a great discovery from this trip, most of their Choc is cheaper than others(Teow Soon Fatt, Billions, shops in Cenang etc)
Guan Thong in Kuah(9:30am-6:30pm, closed on Friday), sells ikan bilis
Coco Bistro(open 6pm, closed on Wednesday), a bit further up from Cenang area
again, another restaurant which is better if you call ahead to book it, cos seat is limited
their Sunday roast is popular and need advanced reservation
only 5 tables with additional tables near the beach that are not covered, will be tricky to get a table when it rains
best place to view sunset
my yummy oven roasted with, generous portion of their piping hot yummy mash
yummy homey Irish stew
tables next to beach
best sunset dinner
very yummy food in coco’s bistro
trying out Kak Yah in Kuah(opens 3pm-2am), same row as Wonderland, the place is very clean, can revisit next time
kampung fried rice from Kak Yah, packed a spicy punch, very nice and cost only RM6
San Restaurant in Kuah (open 7:30am till 5pm), their wantan mee is not nice(I guess most KL stall with taste better than this), kuey tiaw pork noodle soup tasted so so
our last 2 night in Cenang Plaza Beach hotel, this is among the newer and more modern looking hotel in Cenang area, about RM210 per night for king bed seaview room, with nice balcony(for us to dry our cloths and tapao and eat in balcony), will stay in this hotel again, only downside is their wifi is very slow at night. This hotel is under same management as Cenang mall which is just opposite, they will give you a season parking card to park behind cenang mall
basic but clean and their shower head brand is Grohe!
seaview is more like treeview, we are at top floor of the hotel(3rd floor) but tree is blocking seaview, nonetheless can feel the wind
Warung Kita closed for 2 weeks
German Food Corner restaurant in food court of Oriental Village(cable car area) open 10am-6pm, yummy, big portion, must visit
Temurun waterfall which is quite far from Cenang, can see the falls from parking area
very nice waterfall but some of the trail don’t have handrails, and very dangerous if you slip
nice airy open falls area
next stop to Sandy Skull beach which is very nearby to Temurun
beach with very fine sand, and water is super clear, will want to revisit again and soak in it
super clear water
Bamboo Cenang restaurant, so so restaurant, fish is fresh, price reasonable, our clear tom yam soup could be better
sunset
not bad, just tomyam can be better
walk on Cenang beach after our meal
breakfast in Cenang Bunga, nasi lemak is tasty, roti canai not bad as well(dhal gravy is nice but roti a bit doughy thick, not thin enough)
next time can try this Bella restaurant breakfast, just few shops away from Cenang Bunga
after breakfast, we depart from Cenang to Durian Perangin waterfall, quite far away but road is less windy, passed by roti canai Otai otw
walking up, they have handrails all the way to the top
I prefer Temurun cos there are quite many trees here around trail, I scare suddenly some snake etc, and I think there was a tiny snake on the handrail on the way down, so scary, and we were the only one on the top part of the falls, again some unknown snake or body parts coming out from water, wild imagination. But if you like the whole waterfall to yourself, this is definitely the one
going back home
Paretto seaview restaurant looks not bad
Sufra a North Indian restaurant, their aloo paratha (served with small tub of yogurt) is very nice. I tried their chickpea Channa marsala is quite nice as well
here we tapao PutoMayo’s seafood fried rice and Sufra aloo paratha, chapatti & chickpea curry, then dined in our seaview(treeview) balcony. The seafood(squid & prawn) in fried rice from Putomayo is not fresh, but Sufra’s one is really tasty
My French Factory(open noon-11pm) serving crepe
fresh lemon juice
must try yummy french crepe with lots of cheezy taste
Buffet in Aloft hotel in Pantai Tengah, near Chenang
my first plate
plaza premium in langkawi airport
aglio olio, nice & spicy
tomyam meehoon
Below some places to buy Choc and alcohol
above is supermarket below Teo Soon Fatt for 1L
above also from Supermarket in TSF
Below few items from Teow Soon Fatt
above items from TSF, only the alcoholic Choc is cheaper, the rest of items can get cheaper in RAMS Home Decor in Kuah Town, the branch is Cenang don’t sell choc
Below 2 items from billion supermarket, the Choc seems just average price, alcohol here is expensive as well
above RM270 is Billion, can get this for RM228 in Cenang Mall
can get this rum cheaper in Cenang Mall as well. Below few items from RAMS Home Decor in Kuah Town, a MUST GO for Choc, cos most of their Choc is cheaper than others, really good price here
below is how RAMS look like inside, one side is Choc, the other side is houseware
below from shop next to Cenang Underwater world, overall is cheaper than Kuah Billion& TSF, but none of the chocolate in underwaterworld is cheap.
below is from Cenang Mall
below is G Mart in Chenang where we found our favourite Rum Raisin Ritter’s sport and sold for less than RM6
below our chocolate loots, not as much as I imagined considering amount of shop we went. Overall, recommend to go RAMS Home Decor in Kuah for cheapest Choc, and if you want to compare price with another shop, can visit Teo Soon Fatt in Kuah as well. We would go G Mart cenang as well just to get our favourite Rum Raisin choc
For alcohol, just go to few shop in Chenang to compare price or see the different variety each shop carry(try these 3 shops which offer good price: Chenang Mall, Warisan and shop next to Underwater world), alcohol in Kuah(TSF & Billions) is more expensive. I buy them mainly for cooking(red, white wine, vodka can be used for spaghetti Bolognese) and baking(rum, bourbon, cognac, bourbon)
some other place we went:
Salihah kuah, roti canai, kuah of roti is not dhal and not nice, nasi lemak sold out before 8:30, the hygiene of the place looks a bit dirty
