1. Universal Bakehouse
21, Jalan SS 20/11, Damansara Kim, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Scone is quite nice, wouldn’t say is spectacular but worth a go

Nice sourdough with seasalt and butter, just RM 9

Below is revisit, loves having simple toasted sourdough with salted butter. Can skip the quiche as it is just so so, hojicha is nice but very small glass. Can’t really remember the pizza, not bad and not spectacular I guess

2. Wild Yeast bakery,
15, Jalan SS 22/11, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Very near to universal bakehouse. For the sourdough with butter set, I prefer the universal bakehouse as the sea salt & butter ratio and way of serving is just right. Wild Yeast’s butter i feel is less and it is difficult to sprinkle sea salt over the butter on my own without being too heavy handed. So, universal bakehouse win hands down.

Their croissant sandwich is unexpectedly nice though, it is very crispy and buttery

Sea salt is served separately, is hard to sprinkle just the right amount of salt on bread
3. Khong Kee Yong Tau Foo, Taman Paramount

My favourite porridge, yummy comfort food

Overall, must order is the cold Thai milk tea which is not too sweet, the eggplant which is greenish is surprisingly nice. Tom Yam I would rate is average in term of taste(detect some sweetness which is not my preference) but great in terms of freshness of the prawn, the prawn has natural bounciness from its freshness and not bounciness from chemical processed(I would try clear tomyam if I revisit).
Fried chicken wing is not bad, it is easy to eat, good as a filler dish.
Fish dish has tender boneless smelt like fish, it is very coconuty sauce, overall ok but not something I will reorder.
Midin is obligatory vege, portion wise is quite small, prefer the eggplant vege dish more.
Overall, consider a nice thai meal, it doesn’t come cheap though, RM300 for 4 pax

5. Leen’s TTDI serving Mediterranean food

Overall, the tastiest we order from below is the Kunafa ice cream, very fragrant pistachio ice cream and not too sweet, a must order

Fattoush salad is nice & tasty, hummus is tasty enough with unique smokiness, mushroom pied(like pizza) is not bad. The grilled chicken I find is so so and can be skipped, it is not juicy like some review I read in Insta, it has some bbq flavour which hubs like but not me

6. Aunty Ling’s Nyonya Cendol

Cendol is not bad, but my top 3 go-to for cendol are still other places(taman desa road side truck, PJ old town food court and maybe Four Season food court’s), and this cendol is among the more expensive one, around RM6

Nasi lemak is ok ok

7. PJ Old Town foodcourt

The cendol is really nice, with very fine ice, and cost only RM4. This and Taman Desa cendol truck are my top 2 for nice cendol

Below is Bak Kut Teh in PJ old town food court. Taste not bad, but it is served barely hot which is normally the case when it is bowl-based BKT

8. Kona bakehouse
kona cafe

kona cafe

PJ has many nice bakery and sourdough bread, whereas I can hardly find any good one in OUG/Sri Petaling area. The toast with butter in Kona is one of my most fav, the bread is not hard, not sure what breast it is, yumm

Their famed Taro scone is quite nice as well, although I think it will b more exceptional if it is made savoury, although it is not that sweet now, would have preferred a more savoury salted taste

Not so good eats below:

A. Fellini PJ

Don’t know why many raves about this restaurant, and they have many good reviews in Google. Sure, the interior is nice with old Italian charm, but the food is nothing much special. Risotto is homey nice, pasta is not bad. You can forgo the tiramisu, but the Panna cotta is quite nice(I opted to be without their cheap looking ice cream). Food here are not cheap, can try but not a place I would go back for.

Went opposite Westin hotel to Pavilion to Quivo for their weekday lunch set. Not the cheap lunch set, but very quality food, will definitely like revisit their lunch set if I go there on weekdays.

Westin KL Staycation

Their lemon tea is homemade kind and comes in really huge glass, really nice

Westin KL Staycation

Tomato soup is really yum

Westin KL Staycation

Salad is cold and very nice, with strong cheezy dressing

Westin KL Staycation

My arrabiata pasta, good portion to fill up the tummy

Westin KL Staycation

Only gripe is this Crispy Chicken burger which is not crispy at all, it is drench in sauce, not nice

Westin KL Staycation

Wantan mee nothing special, such hassle to go there, wait their opening time to avoid crowd but at the end tastes so so only

Westin KL Staycation

Halab gate shawarma, really like their complementary garlic sauce which make the shawarma really juicy, but the garlic sauce got not much taste, not garlicy at all

Westin KL Staycation

Next day Westin hotel’s breakfast, always enjoy hotel’s buffet breakfast yum~

tommy le baker

My mixed vege grilled sandwich, filled with artichoke, eggplant when I am expecting like grilled capsicum etc, not something I will order again, will order something else next time maybe the mozzarella sandwich.

Overall though items not spectacular, I do like their natural bread and will try other items next time

tommy le baker

Above is hub’s salmon egg milk bun, something for him who don’t like hard bread

Onion soup above is a bit sourish and lack depth of rich beef broth, but it is kinda expected, at least they don’t use artificial beef broth flavoring

1. Zheng Kee chicken rice

Situated in Taman Kok Doh(Segambut), one of the better one out there, will def revisit on and off although it is really quite expensive
segambut Zheng kee

2..Restoran Riverview Small Village

This restaurant been around for ages, looks good but tasted just okay, don’t think any of the dishes warrant revisit, all taste abit MSG-y

4. Hainanese Chicken Rice 传统海南鸡饭

In Batu 4 Jln Ipoh

To me, this is very nice chicken rice, even overheard diner say this is best chicken rice in Jln ipoh & Sentul. It doesn’t need long wait like Zheng kee and cheaper. Must try!

5. Jinjang pan mee

Have this since my primary school day, the dough is thicker and chewier, different from other pan mee, very nice, this stall can’t be found in Google map. They are open Monday-Saturday 2:30pm – 10pm. Same row as Tuaa Mark pan mee in Jinjang, must try!

6. 巷仔海南鸡饭 Street Hainan Chicken Rice Shop (Metro Prima)

the soy sauce underneath chicken is slightly sweet which does not sit well with me who prefer savoury, overall Taman Kok Doh Zheng Kee & Jln Ipoh batu 4 chicken rice is better than this one, although this one is visited by famed HK star

kepong chicken rice kepong chicken rice

7. KL Four Season hotel’s Malaysia Boleh food court

the cendol here is among my top 3 (do ask them for less less sugar, cos less sugar is still like normal which is quite sweet), one con is parking in surrounding area is expensive, we normally park inside avenue K.

8. Restoran Argyle’s beef noodle. Google Map

overall, they are still quite generous with their beef portion, their broth is more light so might not be strong/flavourful enough for some, worth a tryjalan ipoh beef noodle jalan ipoh beef noodle

9. Miyatake Sanuki udon, google map

udon are quite heart in portion and yummy. Won’t say their chicken karaage is very nice but gotta try at least once, it is very tender and crispy, almost feel like you are eating fish and chips as it is quite big piece as well, I prefer karaage with more bite.mont kiara sanuki udon mont kiara sanuki udon mont kiara sanuki udon mont kiara sanuki udon

10. Nasi Lemak Angah, google map

overall, the nasi lemak is nice and generous portion(very generous with kacang and ikan bilis), price is relatively cheap as well which could explain the crowd, will revisitnasi lemak angah nasi lemak angah nasi lemak angah nasi lemak angah

11. Tuaa Mark pan mee, google map

Among the top pan mee in jinjang, quite nice, and very generous with my added shitake mushroom, but it just doesnt have the unique slight chew dough texture of my childhood-pan-mee just few shop away(which unfortunately don’t open on Sundays), but had to go to this Tuaa Mark instead. Maybe will try another pan mee in jinjang(Xiu Ye Mao)jinjang tuaa mark pan mee jinjang tuaa mark pan mee jinjang tuaa mark pan mee

12. Xiao Ye Mao pan mee, google map

We order big portion of noodle. The portion is big and taste ok(for my soup version). Whereas hubs give minus 2 stars for his gon1 lou1 version, he say the soy sauce is quite tasteless and he expected it to have his favourite anchovies. Overall won’t return for this. Online did recommend mixed curry version which we didn’t tryxiao ye mao jinjang pan mee xiao ye mao jinjang pan mee xiao ye mao jinjang pan mee

13. Tian Ya Ker pan mee in Chow Kit, google map

very nice pan mee, the dough is rolled by the strong old lady
