Papillon1

Papillon is a a new restaurant in Solaris Dutamas, if not for a friend who worked there, i would never have known its existence, it is not facing the main road, shoplots around are mainly still empty, Comida restaurant is 2 shops away, duduk cafe is on the same row further away etc. They currently have a deal until 20th-ish August for ala carte dinner buffet(Monday – Saturday) for RM28.80 nett. This deal is supposed to be only for those who bought this RM28.80 voucher in Mydeal.com.my, but they decided to offer it to walk-ins  as well. But be sure to call in for reservation especially on Saturdays as i think they serve an  “optimum” capacity of about 25 pax on Saturdays.

Yummy carrot orange soup, french onion soup is okay

Papillon5

Mushroom soup is not bad

Papillon6

Chicken Chop

Papillon7

BBQ Chicken, taste very similar to chicken chop, only difference is the sauce

Papillon8

BBQ Lamb shoulder with broccoli and fries, tasty

Papillon9

Grill Barramundi Fish, yum

Papillon10

Aglio Olio Prawn Paste is quite nice

Papillon11

Cheese Burger without the cheese :S, their chunky fries are piping hot(soft center and crispy on the outside)

Papillon12

forget about the chicken burger, it sure is homemade kinda meat and it taste and feels floury

Ala-carte menu

Overall, the food is tasty and best of all the drinks are free flow. Some kinks here and there need to be ironed out as some of the menu items like hot dog was not available although it is on the menu, cheese burger with no cheese etc, mix fruit with no ice cream. For RM28.80 nett, it is worth a try, their head chef is supposedly been head chef in the Palace of the Golden Horse.

Ristretto1

cosy interior, thanks to Ristretto for inviting my friend and I for this coffee tasting. They are selling their hot latte, cappuccino and flat white for only RM3. This cafe is located in a relatively new area in Mont Kiara, very near to Plaza Mont Kiara.

Ristretto2-honeydewMatcha

coffee, only RM3

and my honeydew matcha, RM12 (fresh honeydew blended with green tea powder), RM12, very yummy, complemented by natural sweetness from the honeydew, i didn’t order coffee as i not not really a coffee person :P

Ristretto3-lamb

Provencale Lamb, RM35, the mash potato is thick and nice, the lamb is of harder texture as they are chargrilled then boiled for 6 hours. This is not the fork tender type of lambshank, there is definitely some bite to this :)

Ristretto4

black board of type of coffee they have for “Baby” coffee connoisseur: Green tea latte, babycinno and hot chocolate, and they are some for “noob”: Affogato, cappucinno etc, and they are some for hardcore coffee lover: double ristretto etc

Ristretto5-strawberrySponge

strawberry sponge is yummy, although just simple sponge with strawberry jam in between, RM8

Ristretto6

carrot cake is really good as well, RM8

Ristretto7-cakes

desserts

Ristretto8-wega

Ristretto is using a naked portafilter, it is a bottomless portafilter “chopped”, or cut off, so that the entire bottom is visible and thus called naked. The one on the right in the above picture is a naked portafilter and the one on the left is a commonly used one. Julian of Ristretto showed us the technique of using a naked portafilter… blonding… tiger stripes(meaning the coffee flows down in a shade of blonde and brown resembling tiger stripes)

Ristretto9

the remain of ground coffee from portafiler, it should resemble a soft cake, with some moisture.

For this invited review, Ristretto waived out the drinks cost for us :)

Dining in Dubrovnik using RM50 voucher given by them, i have 1 more RM50 to be used before end of August… :) Above is complimentary bread and salsa.

lamb croatia, RM50, delicious, price has increase slightly, there were more of the yummy creamy sauce during our previous visit

spaghetti alla buzara, RM34, delicious, prawn really fresh and spaghetti cooked al dente with white wine sauce

Left: crepe suzette, with hints of cognac and strong fresh orange taste, RM24, the presentation is kinda lacking, could have used a bigger plate.

Right: dessert menu
