No food post, but food rambling today, have you heard of a food called Poutine? It originates from Quebec Canada(a province where most speak french), it is situated towards the eastern side of Canada, also east of Toronto (Toronto is not capital of Canada, but the lesser known city Ottawa is)
Poutine consist of shoestring fries, sprinkled with shredded mozarella cheese(those use for pizza), then pour on gravy(those you get in KFC mash potatoes), and behold, a delicious snack, Poutine, I had it during my study time in Canada whereby i work in the school canteen, and they serve poutine on certain days of the week, and at time i made them, just as described above, And lo and behold, they are snatched up quickly.
So far, i have not seen any restaurant in Malaysia offering poutine, i think some restaurant do offer chili fries, which is fries top with chili, Wendy’s does served something similar, which is baked potatoes topped with chillis, but chili(pic below) is not my thing.

For more info on poutine, you can view this site, perhaps a MIT students, usually poutine recipe will specify cheese curd, don’t think they sell cheese curds in Malaysia, shredded mozarella will do just fine.
There is something quite comforting in eating fries, and poutine is like a step up, imagine picking a piece of fries up with stringy cheese, sorta like pulling a piece of pizza out of the pan, and soft stringy cheese, ummm… unfortunately, they is no where for me to satisfy my poutine craving in KL :\

Balai Bomba and Penyelamat Cyberjaya. Fire & Rescue Department Cyberjaya. My company organise training for selected employee to undergo fire rescue training. According to our trainer, this fire department is the most expensive in Malaysia, takes RM32 millions to build.
lobby
our itinerary, with tea break and lunch slotted in ;P mainly includes theoritical knowledge in the morning and practical training in the afternoon (practical includes holding water hose, opening the water hyrant, putting out fire with fire extinguisher)
Some informative knowledge includes testing the heat on door knob before opening it when there is smoke coming from outside of the room, this is to test the severity of the fire, and if it is cold, open the door slowly else oxygen will rush in too quickly causing the fire to flame up very quickly…
Fireman explaining related fire apparatus we are going to use. Apparently the water host has a male on outer side and female on the inner which will be linked to water hydrant.
Opening of water hydrant with err… i forgot all the naming.
Our trainer pouring petrol
lighting it up
Everyone of us have a try in putting out fire, have to stand about 10 feet from the fire source, we are using powder based extinguisher which can be quite messy with powder flying all over the place. So, in case of using it in enclosed place, make sure your back is facing the exit, else you can’t find your way out from powder filled room.
They store hose in high tower.

chain saw and circular saw. Fireman also involve in car accidents rescue, persuading suicidal people, finding corpse in river etc. For your information, fireman are protected by law when doing rescue, for example, if your neighbour house on fire, they have the right to break a hole in your house etc, basically do anything for their rescue operation, then you can’t sue them, but you can claim from insurance company.

As i have posted on Tangkak’s Kon Lor Mee, here is what Tangkak’s is famous for – Beef noodle, it is just a bit further from Kon Lor Mee store. My colleague who also loves eating suggested that we go eat this beef noodle on our way from Cyberjaya -> Batu Pahat.
Young cook
Don’t fret if you don’t know where Tangkak is, or how far it is from KL, they have opened a branch in Jalan Imbi just this past month. Opening hour for Imbi branch is 9am – 8pm everyday.
Newspaper cuttings recommending this place.
Medium beef noodle: RM5. You have choice of either meehoon, mee, kuey tiaw or mix.
small portion, RM4. For a non-beef-noodle-lover as me, i like this soup, they also added salted vege inside(which is nice). They don’t sell beef balls, good things i find their beef noodle is nice because i don’t like beef innards.
Tangkak branch address:
20, Jalan Solok,
84900, Tangkak Johor.
Telephone: 012- 6373 768 or 06-9783 768
Opening hour: 8:30am – 5:30pm (not sure they open everyday for tangkak branch)
Refer to masak-masak for her Imbi branch review. they sell beef balls in imbi branch
