PerfectCheeseCake

Recipe from SimplyRecipes

I halved the recipes and make it into 6 -inch round cake and about eight muffin size small-cakes, below the portion used.

200g Munchy’s brand malt-milk cookies
Pinch of salt
70g melted butter

500g cream cheese
135g sugar, can be further reduced, maybe 100g will do
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
80g sour cream
100g whipped cream

For topping:
130g sour cream
10g icing sugar, can be further reduced, maybe 7g

When i first tried the cheesecake made in muffin size, it taste quite perfect. Whereas on the next day, i ate from the 6-inch cake round for a birthday party, it feels quite cloying, maybe this cake has to be quite cool to be good? For the picture above, the sour cream topping looks to be “melting” from the surrounding heat as we had move the cake around a bit while bringing it to a birthday party.

Since making this cake, i have made cheesecake using another recipe which uses lemon juice instead of sour cream, i find the lemon cheesecake taste quite good, so don’t think i will be making this sour cream version again as sour cream is quite expensive here.

Got an invitation from Oliver of Croissant Delicatessen to try out sandwiches with croissant as base in his 2-weeks old shop. Their shop is just next to Subway in Hartamas shopping centre

Croissant_Delicatessen2

A simple menu. They also have flavored croissant (garlic/pumpkin/wasabi) whereby the flavouring is mixed into the dough during breadmaking process

Croissant_Delicatessen3

All the ingredients look fresh and crisp. Their croissant is made from all butter, none of that yucky shortening / margarine.

Croissant_Delicatessen4

ordered their fruit tea in raspberry flavor RM7, like the subtle flavor in cold one better than too strong raspberry flavor in hot one.

Croissant_Delicatessen5

Grilled German Bratwurst, RM15.80, the croissant is toasted till quite crispy. Oliver has noted customers like it crispy but not too crispy, ie crispy enough to hold the fillings, but still tender buttery inside would be perfect

Croissant_Delicatessen6

I like this garlic and basil pesto chicken sandwich, RM15.80

Croissant_Delicatessen7

Mixed berries chantilly, RM12.80, the house-made chantilly is really nice, and fresh mint is a nice touch, only thing is i would have prefer is the chocolate to be less sweet

Address: Croissant Delicatessen
Plaza Damas Boulevard, Outside Hartamas Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur

Porcupine1

An accidental find when the restaurant we were supposed to go in SetiaWalk Puchong has already closed shop. After walking round and round, we decided to eat in this restaurant which filled to the brim with customers and looks to serve pretty good food.

Porcupine2

My order: Cow Says “Cheeze” RM18, fresh housemade pappardelle with cheese sauce, top with beef bolognese, very delicious, though the cheese sauce is thick, it doesn’t taste too rich. The house-made pasta texture is nice, not mushy with the right bite.

Porcupine3

The Big Pot Roast, RM25, sliced slow cooked beef in red wine with caramelised onion/capsicum and beef jus, taste not bad as well, and thick cut fries!

Porcupine4

Overall, the food here are really tasty, priced is moderately cheaper than KL standard.
